Sienna Miller attends day seven of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at All...

Between the return of Chanel’s dainty two-tone sling-backs, and Katie Holmes bringing the world’s tiniest kitten heel to Cannes, the stars have all but relegated their skyscraper stilettos to the back of their wardrobes this summer.

Gigi Hadid has been partying in pointed-toe heels that are downright sensible by supermodel standards, while Manolo Blahnik’s playful Jadarona mule, with its comparatively dinky 70mm heel, has won over Jennifer Lawrence (with a little help from Barbie). Not to mention how Kaia Gerber’s jeans, white shirt, and bow-bedecked slippers at Valentino became one of couture week’s most compelling outfits (“I can’t think of a better summer party look,” said British Vogue’s acting European fashion features director, Julia Hobbs).

But not every star is ready to turn their back on height-boosting footwear altogether. When Sienna Miller joined British Vogue’s editor-in-chief and Vogue’s European editorial director Edward Enninful at Vogue’s annual Wimbledon lunch with Ralph Lauren on Sunday, she chose a staggering pair of wedge platforms for the occasion.

In her relaxed blue and white striped linen suit by Ralph Lauren, navy and tan basket bag, and classic sunglasses, Miller was otherwise a vision of preppy summer style. But by adding chunky black patent platforms (and a vampish red manicure), the star kept things from becoming predictable.
