Festivities surrounding the Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival are ongoing, with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone attending the launch of the ‘Jio World Plaza’ mall in Mumbai on Tuesday (October 31).
When a kind reader Nimesh sent me the video of Deepika at the event wearing this Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 dress, I was instantly – much to my surprise – blown away by this outing.
But I parked my excitement, because sometimes a video can be more enthralling than a picture, because without angles and movement a look can appear flat in comparison, especially a dress such as this which has so much structure and texture.
After seeing the pictures this morning, I still love it. Again. Much to my surprise.
I was wary that I wouldn’t like some of the structured looks from this collection on the red carpet, but Deepika is proving me wrong.
I think the sweetheart neckline softens the heaviness of the fabric, and I’m glad black boots were selected over the runway dual colour boots.
For someone like Deepika, who has established herself as a fashion darling in Mumbai, a look as bold as this was a risk that paid off.
Cartier’s diamond-studded white gold ‘Love’ necklace and Panthère de Cartier earrings completed her look.
