Celebrity Makeup Artist and LUMIFY brand ambassador Vincent Oquendo (recognised as one of The Hollywood Reporter’s Makeup Artists of the Year) created Jurnee Smollett’s mocha smokey eye for at the Hollywood Reporter Beauty Dinner.
As a first step, he used the new LUMIFY EYE ILLUMINATIONS™ Micellar Cleansing Water & Eye Makeup Remover to cleanse the entire eye area. He loves using this product because it’s non-irritating and in addition to cleansing, it hydrates and brightens the delicate skin around the eyes.
To help minimize any redness in Jurnee’s eyes, Vincent used LUMIFY® redness reliever eye drops to help them look whiter and brighter before she stepped onto the red carpet. These drops helped accentuate the mocha smokey eye and helped her eyes look brighter in photos.
To add more moisture to the eye area, I gently patted LUMIFY EYE ILLUMINATIONS™ Hydra-gel Brightening Eye Cream underneath and around her eyes. In addition to brightening the delicate eye area, this eye cream provides an excellent base before concealer, so it doesn’t cake and separate.
To begin the smoky look, Vincent applied Victoria Beckham Contour Stylus in the darkest shade along Jurnee’s lash line and into her crease to create my shape. He then used the BYREDO Kajal pencil in shade brown generously in her waterline and had her squeeze her eyes to create a smudged look. Vincent set the eye shadow shape using the Makeup by Mario Master Matte’s eyeshadow palette, using the warm cinnamon color in her crease to warm it up and the black and brown colors on her upper and lower lash line to create a smokey effect. To finish the eyes, he applied a generous coating of Lancôme Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara to her top and bottom lashes.
To help keep the focus on her beautiful eyes, he kept the remainder of her makeup more natural. He applied Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation to even out her skin and set it with Rare Beauty Always an Optimist Soft Radiance Setting Powder in shade medium. He then used Dior Beauty Rosy Glow Blush on her cheeks in shade cherry.
Vincent finished the look with Rare Beauty’s Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in shade Thankful, paired with the Kind Words lipliner in the colour Talented.
