Fendi’s high-performance skiwear capsule

The new skiwear capsule by Fendi showcases its mastery of materials in the wide array of high-performance apparel and accessories, complete with FF-branded ski helmet, gloves and mask. The menswear features the Fendi Shadow pattern in a yellow-pink-blue blend that creates a striking optical effect, while bodycon technical underpinnings set the tone for the women’s universe. Conceived for maximum mix-and-match versatility with outerwear, the skintight foundation pieces have thermoregulating, hygroscopic and waterproof qualities, thanks to the carbon threads that produce a light yet warm fabric enhanced with anti-bacterial and anti-odour properties. Rounding off the collection is an assortment of reversible, furry pieces made from 100 per cent wool.

Chanel’s Coco Neige 2023/24 draws inspiration from figure skating

For this year’s Coco Neige collection, Virginie Viard embraces the world of figure skating. She presents sleek, figure-hugging silhouettes such as this sparkly bodysuit in diamanté-studded stretch jersey. It is enveloped by a technical satin ski-suit with a shearling hood, amid omnipresent house codes such as the double C and the emblematic black and white combination for a measure of Chanel cool.

Balenciaga launches first skiwear collection with mini video game

Innovation is key for the maison’s debut skiwear collection, which taps on materials and techniques made for visibility, insulation, aerodynamics and snow protection. The comprehensive winter sports offerings include helmets made in collaboration with Briko, a known name in protective equipment, and a range of poles for hiking, downhill or cross-country skiing. Available at the boutique at Marina Bay Sands, the collection also introduces the Alaska Boot, Balenciaga’s zany take on the arctic boot that covers a thermally-lined outsized foam form in nylon, leather or faux fur.

To celebrate the inaugural skiwear collection, a mini video game has been specially developed where two avatar options are outfitted in the collection’s pieces. Players “ski down” an infinite slope set up with downhill gates and extreme weather conditions on Balenciaga Skis. Rewards include exclusive wallpapers and stickers, but champions of designated zones will be awarded a physical Balenciaga Ski Lock in a contest running till January 31st, 2024.

Artistic director Cordelia de Castellane eloquently conveys the resplendence of the Alps and Monsieur Christian Dior’s love of nature in this Baby Dior Neige capsule of high-performance technical apparel for skiwear and more. Spotlighting the couturier’s lucky charm, she adorns patches on quilted down jackets and knitted pullovers with the star motif, which also has an all-over print iteration.

Chloé looks to the archives for the festivities

The heritage house mines its rich archives for the festive collection, reinterpreting beloved symbols. The rhinestone-studded arrow that was embroidered across a black jersey dress, a well-known design by the late Karl Lagerfeld for Autumn/Winter 1983 when he was creative director, now graces a single-breasted tuxedo jacket, alongside demure-yet-daring wool-crepe evening dresses. In addition, the embellishment refreshes bags, shoes and jewellery with a glamorous edge.
