Kim Kardashian only attended one show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, and that was the Maison Margiela by John Galliano Spring 2024 show on Thursday.
The SKIMS founder wore a midnight dark green silk velvet Haute Couture bias-cut dress, hand-embellished with hand-cut silk velvet sequins, revealing her body and the reverse side of the fabric, which was created especially for her by John Galliano for Maison Margiela.
I know that I’m the first to complain about this same silhouette from Kim, but the dress is so artfully and beautifully created, I was very much left in awe, plus I’m grateful that this look didn’t feature faux pubic hair we saw on the runway.
This might just be my favourite look from Kim this calendar year, but I could be overcompensating due to the fact that Kim just resigned as ambassador for Balenciaga, so after this, be prepared for a series of gloved, body-con gowns again.
The only thing I would change about this look was the choker.
It should have been saved for a period piece which would have been elevated with these decadent jewels. The choker feels wasted on this look.
Kim completed her look with a pair of Haute Couture velvet platform tabi high heels created by Christian Louboutin and John Galliano for Maison Margiela fusing the iconography of the two houses.
Conceived in an artistic exchange between Creative Director John Galliano and Christian Louboutin, the six haute couture silhouettes are founded in the ritual of dressing. They feature the shoe designer’s emblematic red sole on every silhouette of the Haute Couture show.
An ode to the excellence of Maison Margiela Atelier, the Pumps crafted with the Tabi split-toe adapt the body-modifying language of the collection in magnified platforms and prothèse-augmented heel caps evoking the outline of hoofs.
The counter inspired by the Faux-Cul sculptural design contributes to amplifying proportions.
