Madelyn Cline, a self-proclaimed “Revlon fan account,” may be ringing in the new year with a an ambassadorship to her favorite brand, but even she admits she might not know as much makeup as today’s preteens and tweens.
“I walk into Sephora or Ulta, and I’m looking at 12 year olds who do better, and are so knowledgeable about makeup,” Cline tells Glamour. “It’s actually shocking and jarring. They would give better advice than me!”
Of course, she’s only half-serious. A seasoned actress with a hit series (Outer Banks) and film (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) under her belt, the 26 year old knows a thing or two about glam—and prepping your skin for hours of wearing it. Hence, Cline’s fundamental beauty rule: “Honestly, and I will die on this hill: good skin care is number one,” she says, reasserting, “A good skin care routine is a good makeup routine. Also: Moisturize, moisture, moisturize.”
Hydration is a recurring theme for the Outer Banks star, especially when it comes to her “ins” for 2024. “I’m in ‘nesting mode’ right now because I’m working, so I want all the downtime I can possibly get,” says Cline. “So a lot of my ‘ins’ are very much self-care-oriented.”
As for what that includes? Everything showers, nighttime face masks, and getting into bed early, according to the star. “Also, water. So much water. I need to do better,” Cline adds. “I’ve invested in some new Hydro Flasks, so I’m going to be trying to drink much more water than I have been.”
Considering this, you might assume that when asked the one product she’d bring to a desert island, Cline would say, well, a water bottle. But the Glass Onion star is much more creative than that.
“I would bring my Big Bad Lash Mascara with me. Hopefully, it would make my eyelashes so voluminous and dramatic that I could fly away with them,” Cline says. After a shared laugh, she clarifies further. “Either my mascara or a bottle of wine that always ends up being refilled magically. But we’re here to talk about makeup.”
Indeed we are. Ahead, Revlon ambassador Madelyn Cline shares the top eight “lazy-girl”-approved beauty products she can’t live without—besides that magic mascara.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Daylight Delight
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Daylight Delight is my favorite. I keep it on me all the time because I am such a lazy girl and I also love hydration. My lips get so dry, especially during the winter, so it’s so nice to have a moisturizing lipstick.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30
Moisturizer and sunscreen, always. I’m a big fan of a fan of the two, the combined ones, I don’t know because I don’t like to have too many steps.
St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse
I recently have hopped onto the fake tan train because I’m noticing skin damage or sun damage from on my face and on my body. So the has been a big one. I’ve also started contouring my face with it on days where I’m not wearing makeup, so I still have a little bit of depth to my face. I combine it with Revlon ColorStay Skin Awaken Concealer, which is great. I think the combination of the tan and a little bit of concealer just makes you look so much more awake, alert, and alive without having to do too many makeup steps.
Pears Transparent Gentle Care Soap
Soap, just regular soap, like Pears Transparent Gentle Care Soap. The clear one for brows. It’s brilliant, and also cheap. That’s one of my favorite steps, with a little bit of a brow pencil, just to kind of fill them out. It’s the best.
Revlon Illuminance Skin-Caring Foundation
One of my beauty rules is to always stay moisturized, which is why I love Revlon Illuminance Skin-Caring Foundation. It’s incredibly nourishing and I don’t feel like I’m cracking at the end of the day or it’s separating. I still feel like I’m taking care of my skin while I’m wearing it.
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Face Mask
Aztec Secret face masks. The kind with apple cider vinegar that smell horrendous are so good for the everything.
HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask
The HigherDose red light face mask is one of my other favorites as well. Red light is so good for your skin.
Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady Perfume
Frederick Malle’s Portrait of a Lady is always on me.
