In the celebrity sphere Emma Watson inhabits, there’s a trend for dialing down the glamour—frequently (and unfortunately at this point) referred to as quiet luxury—that perhaps reflects the global economic and socio-political challenges of the day. The key to nailing this aesthetic lies in meticulously curated ensembles made up of luxury basics and impeccable tailoring. Take, for example, Watson and her recent off-duty look in Milan, which (deliberately or not) conjured memories of her time portraying the bookish Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

After attending the autumn-winter 2024 Prada show—where she made an appearance on the front row in a sheer lace-trimmed minidress—Watson was snapped wearing wide-leg jeans in a dark wash with an aubergine sweater and blue suede Adidas. Her Harry Potter alter-ego didn’t have the Prada trench coat, but the rest of the fresh-faced star’s look was ever so slightly reminiscent of Hermione’s Prisoner of Azkaban wardrobe.

Emma Watson packed plenty of classic denim for her trip to Milan. While visiting the Prada store before attending the brand’s show, the Prada Beauty ambassador was snapped wearing straight-leg blue jeans, a striped button-down shirt, and that same beige trench coat with a camel-hued sweater tied around her shoulders, plus black leather loafers. Her look was accessorized with oversized black shades and a black leather shoulder bag complete with chain details. Off-duty chic with added Italian flair.
