NYC-based photographer and creative, Jeremy Mitchell, is a study in contrasts.

We recently caught up with Jeremy to explore his journey into menswear, his favorite brands, and the inspiration behind his fashion choices, among other things. We also take you behind the scenes at Blanc Studios, a photo/video studio and creative agency based in Brooklyn, New York that he co-founded. Jeremy has been a friend of HSS for over a decade, and we really hope you enjoy this insightful exploration into his world, revealing the man who we believe is the epitome of authenticity, style, and creativity.
What’s your earliest memory of being into menswear?
My earliest menswear memory is me being 10 or 11 years old and going through my pop’s closet looking for a tie to wear to church. There was a lot of flamboyant colors and prints in there that really spoke to me. That was the beginning of my appreciation for neckties and, since then, it’s one that’s still strong.
How would you describe your style?
I feel like my style is a hybrid of formal and casual. I rarely ever wear jeans. And my go-to outfit is usually a beanie, pullover sweater or cardigan, trousers, and loafers.
Tell us about Blanc Studios.
Blanc Studios is a creative space/agency that my friends and I created back in 2020. We currently have four spaces in Brooklyn — each with their own theme. Within each space, we shoot lookbooks, editorials, host events, and also allow other creatives visit and bring their ideas and projects to life. We’ve been having fun ever since!
What are some of your favorite brands?
Kardo, Blackstock & Weber, YMC (You Must Create), MFPEN, J.Crew, Countrymade India, NN.07, Folk, Drake’s, Beams, Journal Standard, United Arrows, and Universal Works.
Tell us about what you’re wearing here.
My suit and tie are both by J.Crew which I paired with a chambray shirt from Bonobos, a classic Barbour jacket, and loafers by Blackstock & Weber. Accessories. My wool watch cap is from the Todd Snyder and L.L. Bean collaboration, glasses are by Matsuda, and my watch is the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical.
Most recent menswear (or accessory) purchase?
Guidi Boots. They’re actually women’s. My size sold out in men’s . . .
Favorite piece in your closet?
My HumanMade Trucker jacket & Matsuda glasses.
Most-worn item in your closet?
My Guidi boots. For the price I paid, I’m making quite sure they get worn to the ground!
How has your style changed over time?
Surprisingly, It hasn’t changed much. Just better quality clothes. I know what I like. I don’t follow trends. I’ve been getting my inspiration from the same source for years.
Do you have a “style icon”?
Growing up I found inspiration from characters in some of my favorite shows like “Dragon Ball Z” and “Naruto” as well as artists like G-Dragon, TOP, Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell, Michael Jackson, and actors like Sidney Poitier, Cary Grant (there’s a photo of him sitting on a edge of a building in Paris. I’ve been wanting to redo that photo for the longest time!), and Peter Falk (he wore the hell out of that trench coat.) Oh, and Audrey Hepburn is definitely on my list as well.
As for current style icon?
The one and only Amanda Murray.
Favorite book?
l actually don’t have a favorite book. However, I do have a favorite MANGA! It’s called “One Piece.” It’s been on going since I was a kid. Amazing storytelling. Outside of MANGA, I am currently reading an exciting book called “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.”
Favorite movie?
Man! The list won’t end! I’ll just throw out a few: “Rear Window,” “Inception,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse,” “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” (that movie changed everything for me at the time), “(500) Days Of Summer,” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Focus,” “The Great Debaters,” and “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.”
After a long day, how do you unwind?
I’m a very simple man. Two to three shots of Grand Marnier Cuvée Louis-Alexandre or a nice Macallan Scotch, eat, and sleep.
