Louis Vuitton’s new web series Nicolas Ghesquière: Shaping Fashion explores the artistic director’s journey across his last ten years at the brand and his relationships with friends and influential figures like house ambassadors Emma Stone.
Nicolas Ghesquière has had quite the career. Since joining Louis Vuitton as the artistic director of their women’s collection over a decade ago, the designer has produced some of the most iconic looks and moments in contemporary womenswear.
Now, Ghesquière is ready to tell all in a new series from Louis Vuitton in celebration of his 10th anniversary. Called Nicolas Ghesquière: Shaping Fashion, the series – which is available on YouTube – sees the designer reflect on moments in his career at Louis Vuitton in a conversation format with friends and frequent collaborators.
Oscar-winning actress and house ambassador Emma Stone features in the first episode (with Jennifer Connelly set to star in the next). Starting with a lovely anecdote of how they first met – through the late designer Alber Elbaz in 2012 – the pair then delves into how they worked on Stone’s premiere looks for her movie Poor Things and how Ghesquière views his “mission” at Louis Vuitton, and how he continues to stay inspired.
While Ghesquière talks about his role as an artistic director in the series, the anecdotes and views that he shares are wonderfully relevant to all walks of life. Says Stone of Ghesquière in the episode, “You take the work seriously, but not yourself seriously.” Check out the first episode below!
