At the moment, everywhere we look beauty trends are taking on a soft, warm hue. This is in part to us welcoming in a new season as well as the Pantone and WGSN Colors of the Year being announced. Recently, Pantone announced Peach Fuzz as their color, while WGSN named Apricot Crush as their top tone. This announcement has allowed everyone to incorporate a fresh, fashion-forward spin on makeup application with peach and apricot hues. Chatting with the visionary of @3jayproductions, Jalia Pettis (@jaliadp) who is also a Licensed Session Stylist, 2024 NAHA Finalist Educator of the Year, and an Award-Winning Makeup Artist — she lends her insight into how these color trends will take over your beauty routine this season.
How To Use Peach & Apricot Hues in Your Beauty Routine
Adapt these recommendations based on your skin tone, age, and personal preference. Experimenting with peach and apricot in your makeup application can result in a warm, inviting, and on-trend look!
Tips for Eye Shadows
- To create a soft finish use a matte peachy shadow across the entire lid. This will help to accentuate brown and blue eyes. To add a bit more depth to the shadow apply a slightly deeper shade of the same hue in the crease and blend with a small fluffy brush.
- To create a look that has more of a pop use the same wash of matte color along the eye and then add a satin or frost shade directly over the top in a champagne tone. Remember when applying shadows that are loose or have more glitter use a small dense brush with a light hand, a little goes a long way.
How To Use Warm Tones on Cheeks
- A cool or warm-toned peach can be used as a cream right after your foundation application or as a powder once the makeup has been set.
- If you are someone who loves blush — mixing it with an illuminating cream will give a radiant highlight to the cheekbones.
- Blush should be applied in the areas where the skin has a natural flush tone. This is normally the apples of the cheek and towards the temples.
Our Favorite Ways to Add Peach and Apricot to Lips
- Lip gloss is a staple in my makeup bag. I love a soft wash of a peach color with a high shine, it makes my lips look hydrated.
- If you are someone who likes lipstick whether creamy or matte the shade can be as bright or deep as you prefer which transitions well from a day to night look.
- For those that like lip liner choose a liner that is one to two shades darker and then fill in the lip with lipstick or lip gloss to create a monochromatic look.
Skincare:
Skincare should always be the base for any great makeup application. As such, using skincare products that have peach or apricot in them can improve your overall skin health. Both these fruits contain Vitamin C which contains anti-inflammatory properties and is good for reducing swelling and irritation.
