Todd Snyder Suit for a Wedding

Picking out the perfect suit for a wedding can be a daunting task for any man. Add to that the sartorial stress of marrying a men’s fashion icon — nay, legend? — aka, your one and only Style Girlfriend? You better bring your A-game.

Luckily, Quinn, my now-husband, was up to the task. The man has more style in his pinky finger when he wakes up than I do when I’m decked out in full glam. The man loves clothes, and felt confident in his fashion sense long before we met.

So, when it came time for him to get outfitted for our September wedding, I knew I’d have input but that he’d be the one to make the final fashion call.

He wanted a suit — something stylish and well-constructed. Nothing too stuffy. An outfit that felt modern for a fall wedding, but that he could still look back in fifty years at without cringing at a long-forgotten trend.

“What about Todd Snyder?” I said. His eyes lit up.

We hit the suit shop in their Madison Square Park location and got fitted by the (amazing, wonderful) team there. He tried on every combination in the store.

Go for suiting separates with Gurkha trousers and a blazer? Maybe.

A tux? Great for a more formal occasion, but we were getting married outside, on the steps of a historic observatory in Wisconsin, followed by a cocktail hour filled with lawn games and cheese curds. Nope.

We looked through more shades of navy than I can knew existed, before realizing — oops, we waited too long to go custom. Thankfully, he found his perfect wedding suit for our special day in the Italian cashmere Sutton suit in navy.

The pants looked modern worn with a leather slipper he tried on at the fitting and immediately fell in love with. Not everyone can pull off a backless shoe with a boutonnière but I think he nailed it.
