A breeding ground for movie stars and other inspiring muses, the Cannes Festival opens up a world of fashion possibilities. Witness to all manner of sartorial eccentricities, the “montée des marches” can turn out to be a fabulous spotlight—especially for the models.
Bella Hadid is now a regular at the Cannes Film Festival. She doesn’t hesitate to defy the laws of the red carpet in daring outfits: Remember her Schiaparelli gown with a revealing golden brass jewel necklace in the shape of lungs? Or her incandescent Alexandre Vauthier slit red gown in 2016?
The American star arrived in Cannes over the weekend, and after a short stay at the Cap-Eden-Roc hotel in Antibes, where she sported a low-cut pink bikini, Hadid made her grand return to the Croisette this year. As she made her way to her hotel, the photographers present didn’t hesitate to point their cameras at the model. She appeared sexier than ever in a short Alaïa dress, which she teamed with a plethora of gold bracelets and earrings.
And Hadid isn’t in Cannes by chance. She was spotted at the launch of Ali Abbasi’s film The Apprentice, which traces the rise to power of young Donald Trump. For the occasion, the model wore a short dress designed for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello that played the transparency card from the fall/winter 2024 show. Her beauty routine was minimalist and elegant, with retro inflections that elevated her to the status of a modern-day pin-up.
