Cate Blanchett announced herself as the queen of Cannes on Saturday in Louis Vuitton, but can lightning strike twice during one festival?
The Australian actress made her second appearance at ‘The Apprentice’ premiere wearing a Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2023 Haute Couture constructed bustier dress.
I like how this was very much a 360 dress as you had to see it from all angles to appreciate the blush pink silk satin back and the emerald silk satin lining.
However, you might be looking at the neckline of her dress and wonder why it appears unfinished.
What you are seeing is that Cate’s custom dress was styled with a Louis Vuitton High Jewelry shoulder necklace crafted from repurposed metal, pearls, and precious stones.
Designed to be draped elegantly around the shoulders, the piece recovers white Ayoka and grey Tahitian pearls, as well as diamonds from three of the Maison’s previous High Jewelry designs.
As you can see in every photo, the placement of the shoulder necklace has moved, which is inevitable.
Haider Ackermann positioned his own shoulder jewel to sit asymmetrically from the shoulder, but I don’t think Cate styling hers that way would have made a difference to the slippage.
