Greta Gerwig has indeed been a standout during the Cannes Film Festival, consistently showcasing a series of impressive looks.
However, her appearance at the ‘Beating Hearts’ premiere presented a challenge.
This Balenciaga Fall 2022 Haute Couture gown in vibrant pink taffeta was certainly bold.
While we have established that pink is a colour that suits her well, taffeta is notoriously difficult to pull off due to its texture and appearance.
The black gloves, intended to evoke old Hollywood glamour, did manage to balance some of the gown’s brightness, adding a classic touch.
However, it’s easy to imagine that had this gown been rendered in a different fabric like duchesse satin, that the overall effect would have been more harmonious.
Chopard jewels completed her look, adding the necessary sparkle.
While this look might not be as universally admired as her previous ones, it still showcased Greta’s willingness to take risks and experiment with her style on the red carpet. That’s my take away from tonight.
