Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner might make less of an odd pair than they seem. A key piece of Swiftie lore is that Taylor Swift met one of her best friends, Selena Gomez, when they were each dating Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas, respectively. “We just clicked,” Gomez recalled in an interview, famously adding, “It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
So, it’s not so unusual that Swift has another friend-via-Jonas, Game of Thrones star Turner, Joe’s soon-to-be-ex wife. Here’s their complete friendship, starting with the latest interaction and going back to their first meeting.
May 2024: Turner talks to British Vogue about the aftermath of her split from Jonas, and how Swift stepped in to help her. “Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” Turner tells the magazine, adding, “She really has a heart of gold.”
The article reveals that when Turner first met Swift, she wasn’t able to make friends because she was with Swift’s ex, but things were seemingly friendly enough that when Turner needed a place to stay in New York, she reached out to Swift to see if she knew anyone who was renting, and Swift responded by offering her a free apartment. “I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space,” says Turner.
