Miranda Derrick is still posting dance videos as more and more Netflix users watch Dancing for the Devil: the 7M TikTok Cult.
In case you haven’t seen the new documentary series, 7M is a influencer management company founded by Shekinah Church pastor Robert Shinn. The controversial church first went viral in 2022 when Miranda’s parents, Dean and Kelly Wilking, went live on Instagram with their other daughter, Melanie, in an attempt to reestablish contact with the popular TikTok dancer, who they claimed was brainwashed by the church.
Released on May 29, Dancing for the Devil tells the story of their continued efforts to get Miranda and her husband, James “BDash” Derrick, out of the alleged cult.
While Miranda did not reference the docuseries in her first social media post following its release, her latest TikTok video may be a bit more pointed. On June 1, she posted a choreographed dance with Kendra “KO” Willis, another dance influencer with over a million followers on TikTok. While Kendra wasn’t named in the documentary, The Cut included her in a list of 7M dancers back in 2022.
“Dancing it out with my sis by my side,” she captioned the video. While Miranda’s TikTok comments are restricted, the video was shared with the same caption in a joint Instagram post that appears on both dancers’ feeds. The comments section of that post are also limited, but not completely shut off.
According to the documentary, Shinn encouraged his followers to “die to” their families in order to “save” them. However, once the Wilking family’s video went viral, the dancers were allegedly instructed to reestablish contact to placate social media. Although Miranda Derrick recently attended her sister’s wedding on May 25, it’s unclear if she’s been in contact with her family since the Netflix documentary premiered.
