Beyonce Introduces Team USA In A-Morir & Thom Browne

On Friday, Beyoncé surprised viewers with a two-minute pre-recorded video introducing Team USA during NBCUniversal’s primetime coverage of the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

With a patriotic rendition of ‘YA YA’ from her ‘Cowboy Carter’ album, top American athletes including gymnast Simone Biles, swimmer Caeleb Dressel, and track and field stars Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles appeared as Beyoncé announced, “We wanna welcome you to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games!”

Beyoncé’s outfit matched the patriotic theme with a Thom Browne silk taffeta varsity opera coat in red, white, and navy over a stars and stripes custom A-Morir bodysuit, topped off with a patriotic cowboy hat.

In the stills we can see Beyonce wearing star print Manolo Blahnik pumps, but in the video she is wearing custom Stuart Weitzman Outwest boots which were better suited to the Country Cowboy Carter theme.

I know many of you are rolling your eyes at Beyoncé wearing another bodysuit, but given the athletic nature of the event and her penchant for bodysuits, I can’t picture her wearing anything else for this announcement.

Fans had mixed emotions. One fan commented, “NOT BEYONCÉ GIVING THE OLYMPICS THE VISUALS BEFORE US…😭 🐝 .

This is probably the closest thing we’re getting to a music video for ‘YA YA’ until 2028, omg.”

Others appreciated her candid statement in the video: “big, beautiful, bold, complicated nation… yeahhhhhhh, she knows lol.”
