Victoria Bazua Eva Longoria Carmen Maura Land of Women

Land of Women‘s fifth episode—spoilers ahead!—saw Gala’s estranged husband, Fred, show up just as Gala (Eva Longoria) and Amat (Santiago Cabrera) were having a flirtatious exchange that nearly ended in a passionate kiss. That development set the stage for a high-stakes finale, which drops this Wednesday on Apple TV+.

“It was adamant for me that Amat never be the hero,” Longoria tells Glamour of Gala’s complicated situation. “She has to save herself…even though he wishes he was needed by her. She’s been thrown into this situation where she has to hide and protect her family. She never would’ve found her own strength had she not been tested in that way. So she had to do what she needed to do. By the final episode, when you see her come into that power, she’s like, ‘I did this. I fixed this.’ That is a beautiful moment for women everywhere, I think.”

Don’t mess with Gala and Co.

Apple TV+

There’s a lot that will unfold in Land of Women‘s season finale (you can read more about that in the synopsis below). And while the episode will answer a lot of questions, it also ends on something of a cliffhanger. So what’s next? Well, Apple TV+ has yet to renew the series, but Longoria’s hopeful. “I’m already in Spain going, ‘I’m ready!’” she says with a laugh.

So your move, Apple TV+. Give the lady—and us—what she wants.

Meanwhile, the Summer Olympics begin this week (Wednesday to be exact) on NBC, Peacock, USA, E!, Golf Channel, etc. even though the opening ceremony isn’t until Friday. The entire schedule is a bit overwhelming, especially with the time difference in Paris, but there’s a super helpful link below to what is airing when and where (tennis, diving, soccer, and men’s gymnastics begin later this week). Or you can do what I do, which is never turn off the TV unless I’m sleeping. (It works!)
