After two captivating photocalls earlier in the day, Angelina Jolie finally made her much-anticipated appearance on the red carpet at the Palazzo del Cinema for the Venice Film Festival premiere of ‘Maria’ this evening.
True to form, Angelina delivered a look that exuded sophistication and old Hollywood glamour, wearing a stone chiffon draped asymmetric gown, paired with faux fur stole.
Interestingly, this ensemble was not from her Atelier Jolie collection, as I had predicted it would be. Instead, the gown was crafted by one of her trusted designers, Tamara Ralph.
Tamara Ralph certainly knows how to create a show-stopping look for a red carpet event, and this gown was no exception.
Design-wise, Tamara Ralph didn’t let Angelina down.
The stone chiffon fabric elegantly wraps around Angelina’s body, emphasising her statuesque silhouette, before cascading seductively down her back. The faux fur stole is a particularly brilliant touch, paying homage to the costume from the film’s title picture, subtly weaving a narrative thread between Angelina’s real-life appearance and her on-screen character.
However, while the gown’s design is undeniably stunning, I can’t help but wonder if a different colour choice would have elevated this look even further. With Angelina’s blonde hair and the stone colour of the gown being so close, I think a richer shade could have been even more striking.
Whether or not the colour was the best choice is a matter of personal preference. What is undeniable, though, is Angelina’s ability to command attention and make a statement on the red carpet. She continues to redefine red carpet glamour with each appearance, and tonight was no exception. Even if I might have preferred a different hue, there’s no denying that Angelina looked every bit the movie star.
