Isabelle Huppert Wore Balenciaga Couture To The 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Venice Film Festival Premiere

And here it is—reason number 101 why I wish Isabelle Huppert would give us something other than Balenciaga.

For an actress hailed as a fashion icon, this Balenciaga Couture gown for the ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ premiere at the Venice Film Festival was a puzzling one. More than that, it was a glaring example of how a poorly fitted gown can fail even the most sophisticated.

Did this gown have potential? Absolutely. But only if someone cared enough to ensure it fit properly. Instead, what we got was a gown that seemed to swallow Isabelle whole, rather than accentuating her usual elegance. The ill-fitting silhouette did her no favours, turning what could have been a moment of timeless chic into a mess.

Considering that this was the opening night of the festival, and Isabelle is serving as the president of the jury, her look should have set the tone for the evening. Instead, it felt like a missed opportunity.

It’s hard to imagine any other fashion house dressing someone as iconic as Isabelle Huppert in such a lackluster gown. This is a woman who has stunned us time and again with her daring choices and her ability to turn even the most avant-garde looks into magic moments. Yet, in Balenciaga, she seems oddly constrained, as if the brand’s recent designs are at odds with her innate sophistication.

What’s more frustrating is that this isn’t the first time Balenciaga has let her down. We’ve seen this pattern before: promising designs that fall short.

Isabelle deserves better, and frankly, so do we.

Is it time for Isabelle Huppert to move on from Balenciaga? Perhaps. Because if this is the best they can offer, I think we’re all ready to see her in something new—something that truly celebrates her status as a fashion legend. What a mess indeed.
