It may technically be five more weeks til fall, but I can almost smell the pumpkin spice in the air, especially after seeing how Katie Holmes is already embracing the layered look.
The actor stepped out in New York City—where temps are currently in the mid-80s—in baggy jeans, leather flats, a gray tee, and a ribbed cardigan.
She doubled up on beaded necklaces and accessorized with tortoiseshell sunglasses and a brown leather bag, and it looks like she stopped by Juice Press.
Get them vitamins, Katie.
The Dawson’s Creek star wore her hair in a simple braid, a back-to-school style if there ever was one, although this will be the first fall in nearly 2 decades where Holmes won’t have a student at home. Her daughter, Suri, is headed off to Carnegie Mellon.
“I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy. I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that,” Holmes told Town & Country of seeing her girl start college.
In the same article, she reflected on her laid-back approach to street style. “Fashion is really big, and it didn’t used to be. As an actor, you weren’t necessarily photographed all the time on the street. It’s different now, and it’s flattering, but it doesn’t change how I live or dress,” she explained. “I’m adamant about having a life and not letting this industry dictate decisions as simple as what I wear or as complicated as what I do. You don’t want to be afraid of anything, right?”
Katie Holmes is soon to star in a Broadway revival of perennial school play Our Town, alongside Jim Parsons and Zoey Deutch.
