Monica Bellucci Wore Vivienne Westwood ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Monica Bellucci, ever the epitome of Italian glamour, stayed true to her signature style at the ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Venice Film Festival premiere.

Dressed in her trademark colour, black, Monica’s look was as classic as it was predictable. For a moment, you might think she was wearing a Dolce & Gabbana creation, given the dress’s sultry, figure-hugging silhouette with elegant drapery—very much in line with the Italian duo’s aesthetic. However, this was a custom piece from Vivienne Westwood.

The design, though undoubtedly chic, didn’t quite deliver the wow factor I was hoping for. Perhaps it was the flat sleeve that distracted me, a result of her arm linked with her partner, Tim Burton, the director of the film. This small detail disrupted the gown’s flow and gave it an unintentional asymmetry.

The dress itself was fine—just fine. I anticipated being blown away by Monica’s presence, yet all I felt was a subtle breeze. The gown had potential, but the styling missed the mark. What could have been a memorable red carpet moment ended up feeling a bit underwhelming.

The Cartier necklace she chose to accessorize with didn’t help matters. The necklace seemed out of place, clashing with the neckline of the gown rather than enhancing it. A different choice of jewelry—perhaps some bold emeralds—could have elevated the look. Emeralds would have complemented the dark hue of the dress while adding a touch of vibrancy.

A Roger Vivier clutch was a nice touch, but it wasn’t enough to save lift the look.

For a premiere of this magnitude, I expected a showstopper. Unfortunately, this ensemble didn’t quite reach those heights. With a few tweaks, she could have turned heads, but tonight, she left me wanting just a bit more.
