Nicole Kidman Wore Schiaparelli Haute Couture To The 'Babygirl' Venice Film Festival Premiere

Nicole Kidman returned to the red carpet for the ‘Babygirl’ Venice Film Festival premiere following her earlier appearance at the photocall, which was nothing short of spectacular.

The Australian actress surprised us all by stepping out in a Schiaparelli Fall 2024 Haute Couture look that can only be described as the most intriguing looks from this festival so far.

The bold choice was a feast for the eyes, but it requires a bit of patience and the right perspective to truly appreciate its artistry.

The look in question is a V-neckline organza, skin-toned corset bustier, meticulously embroidered with black, dusting-effect sequins that gradually transition into black fringes before cascading down into a long, black velvet skirt.

The true impact of this look lies in its ability to captivate when seen from specific angles. It’s a look that refuses to be pinned down by a single photograph; it’s dynamic and almost alive, demanding a closer look to understand its full complexity.

I must admit, when I first saw a picture on Getty Images, I wasn’t entirely sold.

But this look needs more than a passing glance, so I encourage you to take a deeper dive into the 422 other images available on Getty Images, where the dress reveals itself in all its glory. From the structure of the bodice to the meticulous detailing of the sequins, there’s a story being told here, one that unfolds with every turn and movement.

Still skeptical? Then you absolutely must see it in motion. Head over to Jason Bolden’s Instagram, where a video of Nicole in this Schiaparelli masterpiece is posted.

Watching the fringes move and the sequins catching the light, I genuinely got goosebumps. The gown takes on a new life when it’s in motion—what seemed like just another red-carpet moment becomes a cinematic experience, a dance of texture and light.

Initially, I wished Kidman had worn her hair up, thinking it would better complement the dramatic neckline and the intricate work on the bodice. But after seeing the video, I realized how her loose, flowing hair added to the soft, almost ethereal quality of the look. It all made sense; the choice was deliberate and cohesive, putting the finishing touch on a look that was, above all, about movement and transformation.

Nicole’s choice was a bold one, but it paid off in a way that only the best couture can. For me, this experience was a visual journey.
