Nicole Brydon Bloom at the "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" Venice Film Festival Premiere

The Venice Film Festival premiere of ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ was a night filled with glamour, bold choices, and a few fashion risks that didn’t quite land. Here’s a roundup from the evening, where celebrities and models joined Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Sigourney Weaver, Cate Blanchett, Winona Ryder, Zhang Ziyi and Catherine O’Hara.

A Vision in Simplicity

Accompanying her fiancé Justin Theroux, Nicole Brydon Bloom exuded grace in a white silk crepe mock-neck gown by Akris. Her choice was understated and elegant.

Some might say the gown lacked complexity, but the draped open back was a stunning detail that left me breathless. Sometimes, less really is more, and Nicole nailed the art of subtle sophistication.

The Embodiment of Glamour

Amy Jackson never disappoints when it comes to red carpet glamour. The newlywed dazzled in an Alberta Ferretti Fall 2024 off-the-shoulder tulle bustier gown, adorned with a cascade of degradé crystals. The gown was a showstopper in itself, but she added a Bulgari necklace to the mix. While the necklace was beautiful, I believe the gown’s intricate detailing was enough to carry the look on its own. Still, Amy delivered a true red carpet moment, embodying the essence of Hollywood glamour.

A Risk That Didn’t Pay Off

Poppy Delevingne opted for a more unconventional choice with her Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Resort 2025 satin suit. While it looked stunning on her hairstylist’s Instagram, the outfit didn’t translate well to the red carpet. Maybe it was the pose, the lack of event-appropriate glamour, or the fit that seemed slightly off. Despite these missteps, I appreciate her attempt to try something different. Unfortunately, this risk didn’t quite pay off for me, but kudos to Poppy for stepping out of the box.

A Style Misstep

Mariacarla Boscono made a bold choice with her custom Ann Demeulemeester white draped gown. While the gown itself was a vision, the styling with boots was a complete mismatch for the occasion. The feather headband and Pomellato jewelry were on point, but the boots? A definite no from me. They may be on brand for Ann Demeulemeester, but they felt entirely out of place for this glamorous event.

Dior’s Reigning Queen

Camille Cottin continues to reign supreme as Dior’s most consistent ambassador. Her red silk gown exuded pure elegance and regal poise. The fit was impeccable, and the overall look left me breathless. Camille once again proved why she is a perfect muse for Dior.

An Out-of-Season Choice?

Clara Soccini, who performed at the event, wore an Armani Privé gown that felt more suited for the Cannes Film Festival in spring than Venice in late summer. I have never been a fan of illusion yoke’s. However, I must admit she made it work for her, even if it wasn’t my personal favourite.

Forgettable Elegance

Izabel Goulart stepped out in an Ermanno Scervino bustier dress made of chiffon creponne, embellished with ton sur ton rhinestones. The dress was nice but ultimately forgettable. For a model of her stature, I expected more from her red carpet appearance. The Damiani necklace she wore stole the spotlight, but the dress itself left me wanting more.

A Case of Déjà Vu

Sveva Alviti, the festival’s godmother, donned an Armani Privé gown which should be giving you a strong sense of déjà vu. This gown has been seen in many guises on the red carpet: Michelle Yeoh at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Janelle Monae at the 2024 Grammys. The gown is undeniably stunning, and seeing it recycled so often hasn’t lessened its original impact.
