2024 Venice Film Festival: Menswear Edition

The Venice Film Festival brought out some of the best in men’s fashion, with celebrities embracing bold choices, classic tailoring, and inventive styling. Here’s a roundup of the standout looks from the red carpet.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Premiere

It was impossible to miss Justin Theroux, who made an elegant impression in a custom Zegna by Alessandro Sartori suit. Justin’s white blazer, collarless shirt, and black trousers created a sharp, minimalist look, but it was the styling that really elevated it. He accessorized with the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooch. As someone who usually doesn’t favour white blazers, I have to say, Justin nailed it.

Michael Keaton has been quietly present throughout this press tour, but he made a real impact at this event in a midnight blue suit oozing with understated elegance and classic tailoring.

Italian dancer Roberto Bolle brought flair to the red carpet in a Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2024 suit. His cropped, double-lapel Spencer jacket was sharp and contemporary, but it was the floral brooches that made this look special. The embellishments added a fresh and unexpected twist to a jacket we have seen a few times before.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Photocall

For the film’s photocall, Justin Theroux reverted to his usual style in a black-on-black Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. Though it was a safe choice compared to his bold premiere look, Justin’s all-black outfits are always effortlessly cool.

Maria Premiere

Pierfrancesco Favino joined Angelina Jolie on the Maria red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton black single-breasted tuxedo jacket with a shawl collar. What set him apart was his choice of accessories—a bow tie embellished with crystals, adding a dash of flair and reminding us of the power of small details in men’s fashion. It was a refined and striking look.

Disclaimer Premieres

For both ‘Disclaimer’ premiere’s Sacha Baron Cohen opted to wear looks from Thom Sweeney. Maybe of the lighter, summer-ready aesthetic that I am leaning towards his white blazer.

Disclaimer – Chapter 5-7 Premiere

Following his Versace look at the first premiere, Kodi Smit-McPhee embraced a sleeker, indie-rocker aesthetic for the second, donning a double-breasted Celine suit styled with a Rolex. It was a sharp, sophisticated outfit that was oozing with a rebellious edge.

Louis Partridge took a more traditional route, wearing a wool Prada suit. While the suit was well-tailored, the heavy wool fabric seemed a bit too much for a summer premiere.

The Brutalist Premiere

Adrien Brody kept things classic with a Dior Men’s suit, adding a unique touch with an Elsa Jin brooch. This isn’t his first rodeo, as Adrien sported a different brooch by the same designer to the Met Gala.

Wolfs Premiere

Brad Pitt embraced the flare trend in a big way at the ‘Wolfs’ premiere, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton tuxedo with a pearl button and matching flared trousers. Some might say that flares have made a subtle comeback, but Brad’s look proved they never really went away.

Wolfs Photocall

George Clooney, who wore Armani for the premiere, kept things light in grey at the photocall, while Brad channelled his inner James Crockett in this light blue suit.

The Room Next Door Premiere

Pedro Almodóvar stood out on the red carpet wearing a custom Loewe double-breasted pink suit. The handcrafted gold feather brooch, seen on Loewe’s Spring 2025 mens runway, added a creative touch to the ensemble, while the Campo derby shoes, and oversized butterfly sunglasses completed his bold, colourful look. Almodóvar’s flair for fun, artistic fashion never disappoints.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Joaquin Phoenix kept things familiar at the ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ premiere, recycling his favourite Stella McCartney suit. Joaquin’s commitment to sustainability is well-known, and his choice to re-wear the suit was a testament to his eco-conscious approach to red carpet dressing, proving that sometimes less is more.
