Celebrities at the ‘Battlefield’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Here’s a breakdown of who wowed and who wavered on the red carpet at the ‘Battlefield’ Venice Film Festival premiere.

A Slip in Style

Adria Arjona, the face of Armani Beauty, wore an Armani Privé dress from the Fall 2008 collection. While Armani’s archive glamour often shines on the red carpet, the off-the-shoulder styling made the dress appear too big for her. Unfortunately, her choice of shoes did little to elevate the overall look.

A Vintage Misfire

Emily Ratajkowski, known for her daring fashion sense, chose a Gucci Fall 2004 semi-sheer, tiered fringe dress. This should have been a perfect match for her, but the dress felt dated and looked every bit its 20 years. The shade of green didn’t flatter her, and the material appeared lackluster. Her Pasquale Bruni jewelry was the only saving grace, but even stunning accessories couldn’t rescue this outfit.

A Repeat with a Twist

Eugenia Silva, who impressed us at last year’s festival, wore an Armani Privé Spring 2012 dress previously seen on Shu Qi. Back then, I remarked that the dress reminded me of a kiwi fruit, but Eugenia softened that impression by styling it with the runway’s embroidered jacket as a cape. This clever move gave the look a unique twist and made it her own.

A Re-Run Too Soon

Madisin Rian, another representative of Armani Beauty, wore an Armani Privé Spring 2019 blue embellished dress, which Jodie Turner-Smith had worn just three months ago. Although Madisin looked lovely, the choice lacked originality. If she had opted for the runway sleeves, it might have added a distinctive touch to set her apart.

A Revisited Classic

Greta Ferro, also a face of Armani Beauty, chose an Armani Privé Fall 2022 dress that Amanda Seyfried wore at the 2022 Emmys. While the dress is stunning, one might wonder if the festival has become too reliant on reruns of beloved pieces. Is it becoming repetitive, or do we appreciate seeing these looks reinterpreted?

Understated Elegance

Jasmine Tookes, usually known for her dramatic gowns at these festivals, surprised us with a look of understated elegance in Giorgio Armani. It was a refreshing departure from her usual style.

A Vision in Tulle

Stella Maxwell glided onto the red carpet in an exquisite Iris van Herpen Haute Couture dress. The layers of tulle, embellished with crystalline flakes that transitioned from symmetry to ethereal asymmetry, created a breathtaking illusion. Paired with Santoni skin-tone sandals and the Goddess Garden collier from Pasquale Bruni, Stella’s look was nothing short of magical—a true highlight of the evening.

Déjà Vu?

Sveva Alviti, the festival’s godmother, continued her winning streak with an Armani Privé Fall 2023 dress. This was the first outing for this particular look, but it might feel familiar due to its resemblance to the Armani Privé dress Emily Blunt wore at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards, featuring a similar sequin pattern and large flower detail.

Minimalist Chic

Toni Garrn embraced a simple and sophisticated style with a black Giorgio Armani dress, complemented by Pandora jewels. Sometimes, a classic black dress is all it takes to make a lasting impression, and Toni achieved this with grace and poise. Understated elegance never goes out of fashion.
