Joe Alwyn Wore Gucci To 'The Brutalist' Venice Film Festival Photocall & Premiere

Joe Alwyn joined his female co-stars Felicity Jones, Emma Laird, Raffey Cassidy, and Stacy Martin on Sunday for the photocall and premiere of their new film, ‘The Brutalist.’

Representing Gucci, Joe brought two distinct looks to the table—but did they hit the mark?

Photocall: Falls Short

Joe Alwyn has been slowly evolving his style, shifting from a super-polished look to something more with an edge. This more relaxed, slightly rugged vibe seems to coincide with his new facial hair—a subtle transformation that’s hard to ignore. For the photocall, Joe donned a Gucci look, that on paper, was trending with the short trousers and oversized blazer.

As much as I appreciate the effort, he didn’t quite sell the look. There’s something about it that feels a little off. The combination screams Cillian Murphy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing—but it lacks authenticity. Joe feels like he’s playing a part rather than embracing his own style. It’s a good look, but it’s not his look, and that’s what leaves me unconvinced.

A Redemption in Oxblood

Come evening, Joe redeemed himself with a much stronger showing for the premiere.

As a Gucci ambassador, it was no surprise to see him in the brand’s signature Gucci Rosso deep, rich shade of oxblood. This look was far better than his earlier outfit.

However, if I’m going to nitpick, I have to point out the trousers – again – as this time they were too long.

While these are two different looks from the same label, it is clear that Joe is in a space of “finding his style groove.”
