Kate Hudson joined Kaia Gerber at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of ‘Shell’, stepping onto the red carpet in a Vivienne Westwood gown.
While I’m usually captivated by Westwood’s signature designs, this look left me surprisingly underwhelmed.
Let me start with what I did like—the colours. Individually, they’re beautiful. However, together, they felt disjointed and failed to create the visual harmony.
The bodice, which should have been the gown’s standout feature, instead looked sloppy and unfinished, as if the design was rushed as there are pulls down the centre.
The Vivienne Westwood label is known for structured chaos, but this time, the execution didn’t hit the mark. And honestly. I’m shocked.
I’m not seduced by this look at all, which is rare for me when it comes to Westwood designs. Usually, I’m all in for the rebellious elegance and quirky charm the brand brings, but this felt off.
That said, the one element I did love was her yellow gold with pavé diamond Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti® scorpion necklace.
This was a rare miss for both Kate and Westwood, two names that typically embody everything I love to see on the red carpet. Here’s hoping they’re back to their A-game next time.
