Lupita Nyong’o continued to promote her new film, ‘The Wild Robot’ at the premiere during the 2024 San Sebastian Film Festival on Sunday, gracing the event in a Dolce & Gabbana custom lace gown that balanced allure and elegance in a way that few can pull off.
If you’ll allow me one use of the phrase “sheer done right” this week, this is the perfect example. The gown featured the Italian label’s signature exposed boning, but it’s the bold red hue that caught my attention and left me truly enchanted. Dolce & Gabbana is known for crafting sensual designs, but Lupita’s look transcended mere sensuality—it was flirtatious and dainty, showcasing how masterfully she can carry such intricate detailing with ease.
The cherry on top was her styling. Lupita paired the gown with a coordinating Dolce & Gabbana patent leather Sicily bag and a rose choker that echoed the romantic feel of the dress. These accessories didn’t overpower the look; instead, they enhanced it, creating a cohesive vision.
It’s rare to see sheer fabrics worn in a way that feels both sophisticated and playful, but Lupita nailed it. It’s no small feat to look this refined in a gown that could easily veer into over-the-top territory, but Lupita’s grace and poise made it look effortless.
