After her breathtaking appearance on the red carpet for the ‘Babygirl’ premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Nicole Kidman continued her fashion reign at the London premiere of ‘The Perfect Couple’ held at BFI IMAX Waterloo this evening.
If you had a feeling that you’ve seen this Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2024 black strapless dress with a peaked neckline before, you’re right. Kim Kardashian wore a custom white version to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party back in March. Some might chalk this up to coincidence, but considering that both Kim and Nicole are Balenciaga’s most high-profile ambassadors, the cynic in me finds it hard to believe it’s just happenstance.
Aside from the colour difference, there are subtle distinctions in the fabric choices. Kim’s version looked like she draped herself in a duvet—a thick, cozy interpretation that dominated headlines.
In contrast, Nicole’s black rendition was much sleeker and more streamlined, and I feel that the cleaner lines elevated the dress from Kim’s version.
However, my one critique of Nicole’s look is the length of the dress. It’s a bit too long, creating a slight pooling effect at her feet that could have been avoided with a more tailored hem which doesn’t detract from her overall elegance.
