Sydney Sweeney at "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney Sweeney is promoting her new thriller ‘Eden’ alongside co-stars Vanessa Kirby, Jude Law, and Ana de Armas during the 2024 Toronto Film Festival.

Known for her daring red-carpet choices, Sydney showcased two dramatically different looks over the weekend—both impressive but not equally successful.

The Road to the Golden Globes party

Sydney wore a McQueen Resort 2025 velvet dress with draped sleeves with a sultry twist: a tulle panel with jet black embroidered details. While the dress was undeniably beautiful, it seemed to impose limitations around the bodice. As someone who can’t directly relate to the challenges of a well-endowed bust, it’s clear that the tulle panel created a sense of restriction that affected the overall impact of the dress. It didn’t do her any favours, despite the intriguing design.

Adding Le Vian diamond rings gave the outfit an extra touch of glamour, but the dress itself felt like it was more restrictive than seductive.

Eden premiere

Sydney opted for a softer, more ethereal look in a bespoke Erdem dress and cape for the premiere.  Adorned with hand-dyed 3D silk flowers and intricate thread work embroidery, this ensemble was a breath of fresh air. While some may feel whiplash from Sydney’s drastic shift from sultry to sweet, I much prefer this look. It was flattering, unexpected, and free from the predictability of the McQueen gown. Even with the hint of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ in its design, yet it stayed beautifully within the realm of elegance.
