Taylor Russell Wore Alaïa To ‘The Room Next Door’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Taylor Russell braved the rain-soaked red carpet at the Venice Film Festival premiere of ‘The Room Next Door’ this evening.

Have you noticed what I have noticed? It’s not often you see a jury member with a clear theme, but Taylor seems to be bucking that trend this year.

From her Chanel look to her Loewe outing, and now this custom Alaïa creation, Taylor is clearly sticking to a neutral colour palette, favouring ivory tones. This gives her appearances a cohesive, and cleverly curated feel. While some might applaud this consistency, there’s also a risk of her looks blending together rather than standing out.

But let’s address the elephant in the room: the fit of the bodice. Like her Chanel look, this Alaïa look also suffers from a fit issue in the top half. Maybe the loose fit was an intentional choice, aiming for the same relaxed, effortless vibe of her Loewe look. But in most pictures, the top appears awkward, unflattering, and detracting.

Frankly, I’m only sold on this outfit from the waist down. The skirt flows beautifully and adds a sense of movement that feels fresh and modern, particularly as the rain was falling. The Alaïa white pumps are a nice touch, tying in with the overall neutral theme.

I hope to see her step out of her comfort zone a bit more in the future. The neutral palette is nice, but a pop of colour or a more daring silhouette could take her style game to the next level.
