Taylor Russell Wore Loewe To The 'Queer' Venice Film Festival Premiere

Taylor Russell made her fourth red carpet appearance at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where she has been serving as a juror. Given the close connection between the film she was attending and the fashion house of which she is an ambassador, it came as no surprise to see the actress wearing Loewe for this occasion.

Yesterday we noted that Taylor had been on a muted, neutral streak, favouring a series of ivory dresses. But tonight, she broke away from that trend in spectacular fashion with a custom Loewe hooded black Moroccan silk crepe gown. The gown featured an open back and sensuous panels of Chantilly lace, marking a striking departure from her recent looks.

The gown itself is undeniably beautiful, a perfect blend of elegance and seduction. The rich black silk crepe drapes her frame effortlessly, while the lace inserts add just the right amount of intrigue and allure. However, I’m on the fence about the hood.

There’s no denying that a hooded gown can add a sense of mystery and drama to a look, but the style has been somewhat overdone on the red carpet in recent years. While the hood does contribute to the overall allure of the gown, I can’t help but wonder what it would have looked like without it—– a halter gown, I suppose.

Another aspect that didn’t quite hit the mark for me were her shoes. They seemed mismatched with the sophistication of the gown, and a different choice could have elevated the look further. On the plus side, Taylor’s jewelry was impeccably chosen. Her Tiffany earrings, bracelet, and ring in platinum with diamonds added a touch of classic glamour that complemented the modernity of her dress.
