Beauty On-Demand Provider Ruuby Raises $2.6 Million

Ruuby, the British on-demand beauty services provider founded by entrepreneur Venetia Archer in 2016 has raised $2.6 million in an investment round led by Manchester-based investor Praetura Ventures.

The investment is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund which seeks to provide capital to businesses throughout the north of England, where access to institutional investment is often lower.

Ruuby has raised $9 million in funding and generated $22 million in sales to date.

Primarily app-based, Ruuby allows customers to book beauty services including hairstyling, makeup application and massages, as well as injectables to a location of their choosing. Since its inception, the business has delivered nearly 500,000 services and has over 150,000 users, as well as 3,000 beauty professionals on board.

In a statement, Archer said monies raised will be used to increase its presence in France and Switzerland, as well as increasing its reach across the UK with plans to hire more staff in Manchester and Liverpool.
