Cate Blanchett made an impactful appearance at the special event for ‘Disclaimer’ during the BFI London Film Festival on Thursday. Joining her co-star Hoyeon, Cate showcased her love for tailoring with a sustainable twist—an element that has become central to her fashion choices in recent years.
For the occasion, Cate opted for a suit from Stella McCartney’s Spring 2025 collection, a brand known for its commitment to sustainability. What makes this collaboration feel particularly meaningful is how well it aligns with Cate’s own eco-conscious ethos, so I am surprised that she doesn’t wear Stella McCartney more often. That said, it’s clear the actress is branching out, embracing new sustainable labels like Hodakova as we have seen in her recent outings.
What truly set this ensemble apart was the hand-carved dove sculpture which was created in collaboration with 886 by The Royal Mint. The accessory was crafted using repurposed gold and silver from electronic and medical waste—an inventive touch that elevated the outfit’s sustainable narrative. This delicate yet bold adornment embodied the innovative spirit of both Cate Blanchett and Stella McCartney.
However, as much as I admire the thought behind the look, one small detail caught my eye. The trousers. This collection was presented just a little over a week ago, so it’s understandable that, given the tight timeline, there wasn’t much time to get it altered, but I still found the length slightly distracting.
