Katie Holmes attended the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York on Monday night, joining Carolina Herrera’s Creative Director, Wes Gordon. In a striking departure from her usual style, Katie embraced bold colours and a silhouette that brought glamour back to her red carpet repertoire.
Known for her preference for luxe boho aesthetics and dark tones, this pink and red Carolina Herrera Spring 2025 column gown with cutouts was a welcome surprise.
The long-sleeved gown, defined by its clean, column-like silhouette, gave Katie a statuesque presence. The pink and red combination added vibrancy to her look, while the subtle cutouts at the waist introduced a modern edge that we rarely see from her. It was as if Katie had shed her usual understated approach for a modern twist.
While some might initially find her choice of the black Carolina Herrera Postcard clutch a bit out of place against the bold hues, the black bow detail at the back of the dress tied it all together with cohesion. It’s a detail that works quietly yet effectively.
Katie’s accessories were equally well-chosen, with ruby, rubellite, and pink quartz drop earrings that subtly complemented the pink and red of her dress.
This is one of Katie’s most refreshing looks of the year, some might say longer.
The re-emergence of classic glamour from Katie feels like a delightful throwback, and it’s a side of Katie that the red carpet has missed.
