Lashana Lynch Wore Ottolinger To ‘The Day Of The Jackal’ New York Premiere

Lashana Lynch made headlines at the New York premiere of ‘The Day of the Jackal’ on Thursday, not just for her role in the series, but for announcing her pregnancy to her unsuspecting co-stars. While the news of her first child is certainly cause for celebration, her red carpet choice left me wondering why her stylist continues to make such puzzling decisions.

For this special moment, Lashana wore an Ottolinger Fall 2024 dress—a label known for pushing boundaries and redefining the norms of luxury fashion. Unfortunately, this dress fell short of the innovative vision the brand is known for. The trompe l’œil design, featuring a faux-striped tie, shirt, and leopard print combination, felt disjointed and lacked cohesion. The elements didn’t seem to relate to each other, creating a look that felt confused rather than bold.

While I understand the desire to stay true to Ottolinger’s avant-garde approach, there are far better options within the brand’s current offerings. For example, a semi-sheer, grey shoe lace and lace dress from their collection would have offered a more flattering and cohesive look.

Though her announcement brought excitement, unfortunately, the dress was a distraction.
