The ‘Wicked’ LA premiere dazzled with a stellar lineup, as Hollywood’s finest gathered to celebrate the film, led by Jennifer Lopez and stars Michelle Yeoh, Ariana Grande, and Cynthia Erivo. Joining them were the many other celebrities including the original Broadway cast members Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, honouring their legendary roles.
Bewitching in Black
Idina Menzel, the original Elphaba, embraced her character’s legacy with a Rhea Costa one-sleeve gown, styled with EFFY Jewelry and a clutch, adorned with an emerald jewel which paid a subtle yet powerful homage to her ‘Wicked’ roots.
A Golden Glow
Surprising those who may have expected her in pink, Kristin Chenoweth wore a custom Pamella Roland structured tulle dress embellished with gold floral paillettes. This whimsical, Tinkerbell-inspired gown stole the show, earning its place as one of the night’s most captivating looks.
Floral Fusion
Hayley Kiyoko donned a unique black suit with pink floral appliqués by Vietnamese label Sixdo by Do Manh Cuong. While I prefer the pink polka dot top we saw on the Spring 2024 runway, I do like how Hayley made this look her own, as a black suit with pink floral appliques is never easy to pull off.
Glittering Glamour
Karrueche opted for the popular fit-and-flare silhouette of the evening wearing a Christian Siriano glittery Spring 2024 design.
Chanel with a Twist
Laufey wore a Chanel Fall 2024 Haute Couture jumpsuit that felt tailor-made for her quirky, fearless style. On anyone else, it might have been too kooky, but Laufey’s personality made this out-of-the-box choice work perfectly.
Green with Elphaba Spirit
Lena Waithe showed up in a striking green Eleven Sixteen by Ugo Mozie suit, a clear nod to Elphaba’s character. This look was a tribute that embraced both colour and individuality.
Sultry in Green
Normani took her love for bold, sultry styles to new heights with a GCDS Spring 2025 green mini dress. Paired with slim green Jimmy Choo Bling mules, sheer stockings and gloves, with her choice of colours nodding to Elphaba.
Pink Power Suit
Erdem’s Spring 2025 collection continues to be a red carpet favourite, with Sarah Paulson sporting a pink suit complete with the collection’s – now iconic – sleeve patch.
Goddess Glamour
Sheryl Lee Ralph, also embracing Team Elphaba, looked radiant in a body-hugging black Valdrin Sahiti gown. Her green eye makeup added a mesmerising finish to this striking look.
A Colourful Miss
Sophia Bush, often celebrated for her style, missed the mark in a half-coral, half-peony Harbison Hera gown. The contrasting colours and patterns felt disjointed. I can honestly say this is my least favourite look from her.
