Kiernan Shipka was fully in the Halloween spirit as she stepped out on Thursday for the 2024 SCAD Savannah Film Festival in Georgia, embracing a look that would have thrilled any goth at heart.
I love how Kiernan took things in a distinctly darker direction, channeling what can only be described as vintage goth-inspired glamour.
The actress made her dramatic entrance wearing a black velvet Rodarte Fall 2023 dress. This dress, rich in gothic appeal with its delicate lace accents, echoed the Mulleavy sisters’ shift that season from vintage glam to a more gothic aesthetic.
Kiernan’s accessories also perfectly matched her theme, with a velvet Roger Vivier Ladybug Mini bag and striking lace-up patent leather boots that fully embraced the dark and moody vibe.
But we have to address the elephant in the room: the makeup. There’s no way around it—Kiernan’s makeup look was intentionally over-the-top. While some may say it was too much, I have to argue that it was exactly the amount needed to channel her inner goth muse. Her makeup seemed to draw inspiration from British goth icon Siouxsie Sioux, known for her signature ghostly foundation, graphic cat-eye makeup, and deep lipstick. So from that standpoint, you have to admire how Kiernan leaned into the same haunting, almost theatrical beauty.
The look may have been outré for some, but let’s face it—Halloween only comes once a year, and Kiernan went all in. She’s not one to shy away from a strong look, and this gothic glam moment is no exception.
Whether you loved or questioned her choice, Kiernan’s dedication to channeling the Halloween spirit you are unlikely to forget it.
