Kim Kardashian attended the 2024 LACMA Art+Film Gala presented by Gucci, where she commanded attention in a white Gucci bodysuit, maxi skirt and draped wool coat.
There is no deny that this isn’t a custom piece, because you can’t get a more Kim Kardashian style of dress than this – unless you add built in gloves – but all attention will be on the plunging neckline, or the cross that is accenting the plunging neckline: the Attallah Cross.
This cross, originally owned by Princess Diana’s friend Naim Attallah CBE, the former group chief executive of Asprey & Garrard who often loaned the one-of-a-kind gem to Princess Diana, in the 1980s, features gold, silver, amethyst, and diamond accents. Acquired by Kim for £163,800 at a 2023 auction, this is the first time she’s worn the cross on the red carpet, marking a new chapter for the storied piece.
However, I’m a bit torn on one element of the styling. The cross is an undeniable statement piece and pairing it with a pearl choker feels like one accessory too many. With the cross’s dazzling history and intricate design, I don’t feel like it needs an additional adornment—especially with a neckline this dramatic. Yet perhaps this decision reflects how Kim intends to write her own story with this piece, adding her twist to its legacy.
Adding to the overall look, Kim debuted a new hairstyle, flicked up at the back in a shorter style, adding a retro flair that feels fresh and unexpected for her.
