Selena Gomez’s fashion choices can sometimes lean towards an overly mature aesthetic, so her ‘Emilia Pérez’ press tour felt like a refreshing departure. This sartorial journey began during the Cannes Film Festival, setting the tone with impeccably selected looks from Saint Laurent and Giambattista Valli. At the time, we didn’t fully appreciate that black and red would become the defining palette for the rest of this press tour.
Cannes served as the perfect launching pad, but London offered a mixed bag. The Schiaparelli look for the photocall was an undeniable moment, however, the rest of her London wardrobe veered slightly into underwhelming territory, as if the creative spark had started to wane.
But then came the Los Angeles premiere, where her Elie Saab Haute Couture gown was nothing short of stunning, delivering the kind of glamour that feels distinctly Selena—timeless but with just the right amount of drama.
While her LA premiere and London photocall looks earned runner-up status, nothing could surpass the magic of that red Giambattista Valli dress in Cannes for me. It embodied the energy, passion, and confidence we’ve all been craving from her wardrobe.
What I will take away from this tour is how Selena was able to strike a balance between youthful exuberance and polished elegance.
