The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood set the stage for Netflix’s ‘Carry-On’ premiere on Thursday, with Danielle Deadwyler and Sofia Carson commanding attention. Both stars brought their signature styles to the red carpet, leaving us with a lot to discuss.
Sheer Shock
I know what you’re thinking: “Not Danielle Deadwyler joining the sheer dress, underwear-on-display trend too.” Admittedly, it was a surprise to see her in this Gucci pleated dress, as this isn’t her typical red-carpet vibe. But this is a chocolate-brown dress – which feels like it hails from the same Resort 2025 collection as Daisy Edgar-Jones’ blue gown worn during TIFF – feels tailored to Danielle’s edgier style. The rich hue is divine, and the gold Gucci accessories perfectly seal the deal.

Too Much of everything
I’m usually a champion of Sofia Carson’s red-carpet choices, but this black taffeta dress felt a bit too heavy. While some angles captured its theatrical beauty, in others, the overwhelming fabric took center stage. The design seemed to echo Cardi B’s over-the-top Met Gala gown.
