And the moves continue—Glenn Martens has just been announced as the new creative director of Maison Margiela. He follows in the footsteps of John Galliano, who led the French maison from 2014 until late last year, closing a chapter of heated industry speculation following his departure from Y/Project. The brand has since announced its shutdown.

At Diesel since 2020, Martens has been instrumental in repositioning the brand on the fashion map with his signature deconstructed silhouettes and bold accents, earning a cult following. He will remain at the helm of Diesel. “I have worked with Glenn for years, I have witnessed his talent, and I know what he is capable of,” OTB chairman Renzo Rosso said to Vogue Business. “After Martin, who gave life to the Maison and its unique Artisanal line, and John, who made it the most cutting-edge couture house in the world, I am proud to have a third couturier at its helm. Glenn, who studied at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts like Martin, has already shown his prowess and his vision in couture”.
