Tilda Swinton Chanel Hosts Berlin Film Festival Dinner

The Berlin International Film Festival kicked off in style on Wednesday, with Chanel hosting an intimate dinner to mark the 75th edition of the event.

This year’s festival, chaired by American director Todd Haynes, with Fan Bingbing serving on the jury, is set to run from February 13 to 23. The dinner was held at the Berlin Bunker penthouse—a space that sounds like it could double as a James Bond villain’s lair, but instead houses Christian Boros’ contemporary art collection. The evening’s culinary delights were crafted by Christopher Kujanski, the genius behind POTS restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Berlin, while German actor and musician Christian Friedel serenaded the guests with a live performance.

But let’s get to the star of the night: Tilda Swinton.

With a new choppy haircut that instantly modernised her look, the actress—who is set to receive the Honorary Golden Bear later today—was effortlessly statuesque in a Chanel Spring 2025 Haute Couture gold metallic embossed trouser suit. The metallic fabric shimmered like liquid gold under the venue’s soft lighting, while the black chiffon scarf (as seen on the runway) is likely to be divisive.

What made this look sing was the simplicity of her beauty choices. Tilda’s neutral makeup palette, combined with the undone texture of her hair, made the whole look feel fresh and contemporary. It was classic Chanel but with a Swinton twist—elegant, with an edge.

While she kept things relatively understated for the dinner, I fully expect her to bring the drama later today when she accepts her Honorary Golden Bear.

With this elegant soirée, Chanel once again proved its enduring love affair with cinema—and with Tilda Swinton leading the fashion charge, it’s shaping up to be a very stylish Berlinale indeed.

Below is a look at the other attendees who joined Tilda.
