Colman Domingo was honoured with the Montecito Award during the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival at The Arlington Theatre on Friday.
Dressed in a Marni Spring 2025 black geometric jacquard silk tie and cream shirt with wide-leg nappa leather trousers and a black raglan-sleeved double-breasted jacket, I have to say, with regards to Colman, that this is one of those rare occasions where I prefer the runway presentation.
Let’s talk about those trousers. They’re too long, which is causing all those distracting dents up the leg. On the runway, they hit at the ankle, allowing the leather to fall perfectly. And the shoes? The desert hue just isn’t working for me here—I would’ve gone for black shoes, or the runway shoes.
That said, from the waist up, I’m loving it. The jacket is sharp and adds a stylish edge that feels so true to Colman’s dandy aesthetic. If only the lower half matched the upper half’s polish, this could have been one of his top looks of the year.
So close. Shame.
