Lucy Boynton Wore Miu Miu To The ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’ New York Premiere

Taking a break from promoting her own TV series, A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, Lucy Boynton graced the red carpet for the New York premiere of Renée Zellweger’s Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy on Wednesday.

Dressed in a look from Miu Miu, Lucy delivered exactly the kind of doll-like aesthetic we’ve come to expect from her. The yellow dress, trimmed with ivory ruffles, exuded that whimsical, vintage charm she loves so much. Although, I’ll admit—I experienced a case of mild PTSD as those ruffles reminded me of Joey King’s Critics’ Choice Awards dress.

But Lucy makes it work, effortlessly. The pastel palette is soft and romantic, the ivory Miu Miu bag is perfectly prim, and the embellished Miu Miu pumps add just the right amount of sparkle.

And then… the gloves.

The grey fingerless knit gloves were an unexpected twist. Were they necessary? Not really. Were they random? Absolutely. But these gloves were part of the final three looks on Miu Miu’s runway, so it was only a matter of time before they showed up on a red carpet.

Do I wish the styling had stopped at the pumps and the bag? Yes. But maybe there was a feeling that the softer tones might wash her out—or perhaps she just wanted to have fun with her accessories.

And who can blame her? A little glove-based chaos keeps things interesting.
