Jeanne Cadieu is no stranger to high fashion. You’ve likely seen her owning the Fall 2025 runway for Ferrari, Chanel, Hermès, Dolce & Gabbana, and Victoria Beckham or fronting campaigns for Zara. And let’s not forget her polished red carpet moment at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards alongside boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. So naturally, expectations were high when she arrived at the opening night of Othello in New York City to support Jake in his latest Broadway role.
Which is why I was a little thrown by her Courrèges illusion dress from the Resort 2025 collection. This piece is meant to be a sleek, futuristic statement, creating the effect that the dress is magically suspended from the collar. But for that illusion to truly work, the fabric has to lay perfectly flush against the body. Unfortunately, something was… off.
It seems like one of two things might have happened here. Either Jeanne didn’t realise that the draped portion of the dress was supposed to sit lower on her body, causing that unintentional rippled effect at the waist, or she simply needed a post-car-exit adjustment. A classic case of “red carpet versus real life.”
For comparison, Louisa Jacobson wore this same dress to the 2024 Emmy Awards, and it was a masterclass in execution—smooth, seamless, and effortlessly chic. So, was Jeanne’s look a styling misstep or just a casualty of a rushed arrival?
