Kandi Burruss celebrated the Othello opening night at the Barrymore Theatre alongside her husband Todd Tucker, as the co-producer of the Broadway revival—so, naturally, she needed a look worthy of the occasion.
She wore a Christian Siriano Spring 2025 black tulle mermaid gown designed for drama, intrigue, and full-on moment status.
On paper, this should have been a knockout. The gown itself is gorgeous—delicate yet commanding, with layers of tulle giving it an ethereal quality. But on Kandi? I wasn’t completely sold.
The biggest issue here is the illusion paneling. It blended seamlessly with the model’s skin tone on the runway, creating a barely-there effect that added to the gown’s magic. On Kandi, it just didn’t work. Then there’s the bubble hem, which, let’s be honest, needed a little fluffing before hitting the carpet. Right now, it looks more crumpled than couture. And don’t even get me started on the black underwear—skin-tone would have been the way to go.

That being said, the behind-the-scenes images tell a different story. In better lighting, the gown translates much better. I just wish the red carpet shots reflected that magic, because Kandi deserved a flawless fashion moment.
With Clarity jewels, and the finger waves were a sleek, old-Hollywood touch.
From the waist up? Absolutely stunning. The full look? I wanted it to be perfect, but it just missed the mark.
Does this look remind anyone else of Christina Ricci’s Zac Posen gown worn to the 2011 Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty? I will forever be obsessed with that gown.
