Benson Boone made his debut at the Coachella festival this weekend, where the rising star wasn’t content with simply performing his hits; he decided to sprinkle in a little rock history for good measure. And by “a little,” I mean a surprise collaboration with Queen legend Brian May.
From the moment Benson stepped on stage, it was clear he was in his Freddie Mercury era. Dressed in a custom Dolce & Gabbana white and blue printed lurex bodysuit, with flared pants fully encrusted in Swarovski crystals—he looked like a glam rock angel sent from the 1970s to bless the Coachella stage.

But it was the custom regal cape that made the moment. It was a showstopper, a power move, and an undeniable homage to Mercury’s flamboyant stage style.
Then came Bohemian Rhapsody. Benson, seated at a grand piano, poured his soul into the performance while Brian May stepped in for that iconic guitar solo. The nostalgia, the drama, the goosebumps. The crowd was rightly sent into a frenzy. The look, the setting, the performance—it all worked in harmony.

Earlier in the evening, Benson set the tone in another custom Dolce & Gabbana ensemble: a sleeveless jacket and wide-leg trousers with gold buckles, buttons and a Devotion Heart belt that gave quiet opulence with a rock star edge. Less theatrical than the cape moment, but still carrying that larger-than-life energy.
Between the surprise Queen collab and the high-voltage fashion choices, Benson didn’t just tick the box on a Coachella debut—he exploded it with glitter, heart, and homage.
