Hailee Steinfeld has been serving look after look on the Sinners press tour – giving us drama, glamour, and serious confidence since Mexico City. So, when I saw her at the London photocall on Sunday, I was ready to be wowed again. But alas, every fashion streak eventually stumbles, and this was Hailee’s moment.
Dressed in that Richard Quinn Fall 2024 black velvet and white satin gown – the one Courtney Eaton wore to the Yellowjackets Season 3 LA premiere – Hailee looked like she was heading to a winter gala, not a daytime photocall in April. It’s not that I’m demanding florals or floaty chiffon, but this look felt out of sync with the occasion and her recent run. The weight of the velvet, the drama of the collar, and the full-length skirt all screamed evening elegance, not Sunday in springtime London.
Hailee has been so in tune with her style narrative lately – edgy, refined, always on point. This felt like someone hit shuffle and landed on the wrong outfit. And if you’re keeping track (because I certainly am), this marks outfit déjà vu number two on this tour – following that Fendi Couture moment originally worn by Letitia Wright.
Here’s hoping her premiere look gets things back on track.
